A 70th Birthday to remember

On Wednesday 17th September 2025, Chorleywood Parish celebrated 70 years of Mass being celebrated in St John Fisher Church with a Mass of Thanksgiving celebrated by Bishop Paul McAleenan, followed by a drinks and cake in a marquee set up in the garden by the parish Sea Scouts. Many former parishioners joined us for the event, including the first person to be baptised in St John Fisher Church, and her family, who were the first to live upstairs in the flat when the Church was opened in 1955.

It was a beautiful liturgy with the choir treating us to a beautiful version of Panis Angelicus by Louis Lambilotte. Bishop Paul preached about how the Church is not just a building but the community that comes to worship inside it, and this event really showed how true this is. The Order of Service also contained a detailed history of the parish, which can be found here on our website: https://parish.rcdow.org.uk/rickmansworth/about-the-parish/st-john-fisher-chorleywood/
