Sea Scout Group

6th Rickmansworth Sea Scout Group (formerly 57th South West Hertfordshire) is one of seven Scout groups in the District of Rickmansworth and Chorleywood in Hertfordshire. Our Group Headquarters are located in the grounds of our sponsoring authority Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Rickmansworth, as the Group was formed to provide Catholic Scouting in Rickmansworth and surrounding parishes.

Many of our members are parishioners from Our Lady Help of Christians, Rickmansworth; St. Bede’s, Croxley Green; St. John’s, Mill End and St. John Fisher, Chorleywood. Whilst being Catholic is not a prerequisite for joining the group, all members are expected to attend our Church Parades which are usually held once each school term.

The Group is currently divided up into three sections –

Beavers 6 to 8 year olds

Cubs 8 to 10½ year olds

Scouts 10½ to 14 year olds

During term time, each section meets once a week as well as participating in weekend activities and camps or sleepovers.

Sea Scouting

As a Sea Scout Group, we pride ourselves on the extensive use of water activities such as Kayaking, Canoeing, Sailing and Rowing as part of the programme we offer. As well as water activities, we go hiking, rock climbing, mountaineering as well as partaking in many other activities such as air rifle shooting and traditional scouting activities. As well as a variety of sports, younger members of the group especially, will find themselves playing games, cooking, doing arts and crafts and more! We also enjoy doing weekend activities and going away during the holidays.

We aim to deliver an exciting, fun and educational programme that will enrich the lives of all the young people in the group and enable them to reach their potential in a safe and secure environment.

Who runs the Group?

6th Rickmansworth Sea Scout Group is run by a dedicated team of hard working, volunteer Leaders. Headed by our Group Scout Leader, all of our Leaders give up their own time providing the skills and experience required to provide the varied programme of activities we offer.

We are always looking for more support in the form of adult helpers, and if you are willing and able to spare a couple of hours per week in order to help out then we would love to hear from you. Just send us a message via the Group contact us page and we will get back to you.
