A long trek to Norfolk

The statue of Our Lady of Walsingham

On Saturday 20th September a parishioners from our parishes alongside some from Holy Rood, Watford, travelled to Walsingham to join the annual Westminster Diocesan Pilgrimage led by Cardinal Vincent Nichols. After a 3 1/2 hour long coach journey we celebrated Mass together with nearly 2000 others from our diocese where the Cardinal preached about the seven joys of Mary. We then had a picnic lunch before processing along the Holy Mile to the ruins of Walsingham Abbey, where we had exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Cardinal Vincent gave Benediction. It was a long, but very beautiful day, and all those who went on the pilgrimage have many memories of our day together taking our petitions to Our Lady of Walsingham.

Walking along the Holy Mile
The Holy Mile is a long way for little legs, but thankfully helpful brothers were at hand!
