As part of our Lenten Journey this year we had a Forty Hours (Quarant Ore) of exposition of the Blessed Sacrament across our Churches from Thursday 12th – Saturday 14th March. This included parishioners joining Fr Dom and Fr Andrew through the night in prayer, as well as a number of groups leading us in prayer, and praying the Divine Office together. On the Friday morning in Mill End St John’s School joined us for an hour of prayer ending with Benediction and some beautiful singing, and the Forty Hours concluded on the Saturday lunchtime with our GIFT families leading us in a Blessed Sacrament Procession around the grounds of Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Rickmansworth. We are sure the parishes will be richly blessed by this privilege time with Our Lord this Lent.
We began each hour by praying together our new parish prayer, which from this moment will be used to start our parish meetings and gatherings, as well as frequently at Mass:
Our Parish Prayer
God our Father, we thank You for calling our parish communities together
as one family who share the gift of our Catholic faith.
Jesus, may we grow in our relationship with You as we encounter You in prayer,
listen to You in the Scriptures, and adore You in the Eucharist.
Holy Spirit, transform us into true missionary disciples who fan Your flame
as we serve our neighbours with faith, hope and love.
God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit –
unite us and inspire us to share the Good News of Your saving love
in our homes, schools, places of work and local communities.
We ask this in Your name. Amen.
