Marian Procession and Blessing of the Restored Calvary Cross

On Sunday 14th May we had our first Marian Procession for many years at Our Lady Help of Christians Church. It was a glorious morning and during the procession we sang Marian hymns as we processed around the site, before crowning Our Lady, praying a decade of the rosary and reconsecrating our parish to her protection and intercession.

This was then followed by the blessing of our newly restored Calvary Cross, which had been reinstalled just two days beforehand after many months of waiting. The procession then ended with a very powerful rendition of ‘When I survey the wondrous cross’.

After the procession we celebrated with a parish picnic in the sunshine. We hope that our Marian Procession will now be an annual event in our parish calendar, as we give thanks for our dedication to Our Lady Help of Christians.

Our highly skilled craftsmen Anthony McGee and James Stangroom, proudly stand by the Cross they worked so hard to restore for our parish.
