The sun shines on Brass on the Grass

Our summer joint parishes event ‘Brass on the Grass’ took place on Sunday 16th July at Our Lady’s Parish Field and was a great afternoon with over 300 people attending. The 6th Rickmansworth Sea Scouts cooked the barbecue and the 3 parish Social Committees prepared the other food and the all important bar. The Youth Ministry Leadership Team led activities for the children for the afternoon, and our Youth Choir sang us some hymns and a favourite pop song. In the Scout Hut many of our parish groups also had stalls giving information about what they offer our parishioners. We were joined for the afternoon by Bishop Paul McAleenan who had a wonderful time joining us for the occasion.

The other entertainment for the afternoon were Fr Andrew’s brass band, Potters Bar Town Band, who played a huge variety of music, including music from the movie The Greatest Showman, Abba’s Mamma Mia, Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds, some traditional marches and finishing with the Floral Dance. To cap it all, despite being a very unpredictable weekend of weather, the sun shone throughout the event thanks to the many prayers of the parishioners in the days leading up to it.

Our thanks to all those who made this spectacular event go so smoothly and to all those who came. We all look forward to another joint event across our parishes in the future.
