Appeal for a kidney

We have a young parishioner Emilka whom we have been praying for over many months. Her condition is such that she now needs a new kidney.
Her family are making an appeal which is below. Please take the time to read, share with whoever you may think will be interested and keep Emilka and her family in your prayers too.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this.

Dear Friends,

I wanted to share our special story and plea with you. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Our beautiful daughter, Emilka, is fifteen years old. She loves football and is a fan of classic cars.

She is passionate about army cadets and dreams of becoming a Combat Medical Technician. She is kind, generous and considerate; always putting everyone else before herself!

In 2020 she suffered from a rare autoimmune disease, which led to her kidneys failing. Since then Emilka has spent most of her nights plugged into her home dialysis machine and has missed out on both school and leisure time due to hospital admissions. Through this deeply painful time; Emilka has faced these challenges with strength, positivity and courage. We are so proud of her; she is simply inspirational.

Emilka knows both her kidneys will never recover; she needs a kidney transplant. This is the most successful treatment for kidney failure. Donated kidneys can come from the national deceased donor pool, that is from people who have died. Kidneys from living donors offer the best chance of success. Living donors are considered carefully and are investigated thoroughly to ensure they are well enough to live their lives safely with one kidney.

Regrettably no family members can donate for Emilka– due to incompatibility or simply being unsuitable after undertaking living kidney donor extensive tests. This is heart-breaking for us as a family. If Emilka could have a kidney transplant her life would be transformed. She would be able to live life to the full with a successful transplant.

You may not know a lot about living kidney donation however if you would consider donating a kidney to her or would like to know more information please do the following:
