Gardening Group

The parish gardens have been maintained by volunteers for about 9 years.  We are a friendly, sociable and flexible group with a mix of gardening knowledge and ability from zero to many years of experience.  However, the main quality needed is a willingness to help to keep the gardens looking as good as possible.   Numbers fluctuate as time and commitments allow but we usually have half a dozen or so people turning up for gardening sessions.

These take place on a Saturday morning, roughly about once a month depending on the availability of someone to coordinate and very importantly, to ensure that tea, coffee and biscuits are provided for a mid-session break when we all enjoy a chat.  Outline times are 9 – 12pm but people are welcome to come and go at any time within that period or indeed to arrive earlier or continue later if that works better for them.  Notice of the date of each session is sent out to the regulars about two weeks before and is advertised in the Parish Newsletter the previous week.  Newcomers are always made very welcome.

Some of our volunteers come at times other than the group sessions to work alone or with a friend, which can be very satisfying.

We have a good range of tools available but it is a good idea to bring gardening gloves if you like to use them and some people like to bring their own secateurs.
