Helping Herts Homeless

Helping Herts Homeless started its journey 30 years ago when a small group of people recognised the need to address the growing issue of local homelessness & from this the charity North Herts Sanctuary was ”born.” Can you remember when you pledged your membership fee and commitment to our organisation? Here we are some +30yrs on and TOGETHER we’re still helping to make THE difference to those less fortunate living in our County. Whilst some of you have been supporting us on our journey from day 1 others have joined as we have grown.

Whilst in an ever changing world where homelessness continues to rise, our name may have changed, however our Mission & Values remain the same:

Our MISSION is, working together with other agencies, we aim to support the provision of emergency accommodation and additional support services to anyone in Hertfordshire who has become or is at the risk of becoming homeless

Our AIM, for every client is that they are assisted and supported towards the means to move on into a settled, secure and fulfilling life.

We recently held our 28th Annual General meeting and whilst numbers were low, input was both lively and positive. Our Board of Trustees were all duly elected to serve for a further twelve months and consists of Katherine Bridge, Ian Chapman, Owain Lister {chair) Liz Poole and Peter Warren.

There was an excellent presentation by Guy Foxall CEO of OneYMCA who are the current occupants of our building 25, Nightingdale Road. Guy explained the planned redevelopment of the site creating a new custom built accommodation and training complex which One YMCA will accommodate on a long term lease from HHH. Details of this proposal can be found at www.oneymca.org/HitchinSanctuary
