Astrid at the recent Plant Sale raising funds for ‘ Aid to the Church in Need’

The Group seeks to raise awareness within the parish of social justice issues, both in the UK and worldwide, e.g. arms trade, world peace, poverty/hunger/homelessness, debt, pay-day loans, ethical banking, fairtrade, refugees.
Things we do:-
- Soup lunch twice a year for CAFOD Lent & Harvest Fast Days
- Penny Collection: organise small change collection for a nominated charity each year; aim to raise £1,000
- Annual summer lunch in support of a nominated charity
- Harlow/Bishop’s Stortford Foodbank: organise regular collections of food to be taken to Harlow for sorting and distribution to those in need
- Organise St. Joseph’s share of annual Christian Aid street collection in Bishop’s Stortford
- Attend Justice & Peace-related events such as talks, conferences; take part in/arrange peace walks
If you are unable to join us for meetings but are interested in what we do and might like to help in other ways, or come along to non-weekday activities, do please contact us.
